Wineries

Located in the heart of the Apellation Rioja, our wines are made in the oldest winery in the city. Right now we are improving and expanding the production capacity of the wineries. Our objective is to produce wines that show our differentiated quality, for this we use traditional procedures coupled with new techniques. The winery is built on top of a hill, it is possible to take advantage of the difference of height so that the winemaking process is carried out by using gravity all along the five different levels. This way, each step of the process is developed in a different floor, and the wine goes from one floor to the next one in a natural way. This process contributes to obtain higher quality.

The underground tunnels of the winery, which have been preserved since the Middle Ages. These are underground caves that enabled communication throughout the city in the underground. In this place we can find constant humidity and temperature throughout the year, ideal conditions for resting and improving our wines.

All this work is developed with the experience and extensive trajectory of more than 130 years of work that supports us.

Castillo de Enériz

Eneriz has its origin in an old fort dating from the Iron Age. Located on the Route of  Santiago, Eneriz is a village of vineyards. The winery built facing this beautiful town, produces the DO Navarra wines from Manzanos Wines.This winery is a modern construction which has cutting-edge technology. The fifth generation of Fernández de Manzanos family expanded their business in this appellation with the purchase of this winery.

It was bought in 2014 in order to elaborate the grapes coming from vineyards in appellation Navarra owned by the family in the village of Cárcar. These grapes make a difference because of their top quality. One of the reasons that pushed Manzanos Wines to acquire this winery is because it was a new winery that had enough space to increase capacity to elaborate and bottle. Nowadays it is possible to store up to 2000 barrels.

The vineyards located in the village of Cárcar correspond to five different varieties, which are placed on a sunny plateau. All of them have irrigation system. This is a technique that the family has implemented in all its vineyards, so that each bunch of grapes receives the same amount of sunlight and water and guarantees the optimal health of the vineyards.

Winemakers

Victor and David Fernández de Manzanos are now the fifth generation of a family dedicated to wine. More than 125 years devoted body and soul to what they do best, growing vines and making great wines. Born and raised in the most enological atmosphere, their lives are marked by the winery. Lives rooted in land of wine. The search for the most exclusive terroirs, the choice of the best vines, the selection of the best grapes, and the supervision of each elaboration, it is their objective. All this to be able to share with us his passion, wine. Transmitted generation after generation.

Vineyards

Our vineyards in DOCa Rioja have an exceptional climate and soils for the production of high quality wines. Our plots are distributed throughout different municipal terms, which allows us to explore the qualities of each terroir and its singularities. Always carrying out a sustainable viticulture with respect for our environment. Our small plots are specially selected for each type of wine.

Terroir

The confluence of the Atlantic and Mediterranean climates, with moderate temperatures, medium rainfall and the currents of our unique wind called “Cierzo”, make up an excellent microclimate for growing grapes. We have a diversity of soils among which the three best known predominate: limestone- clay, ferrous- clay and alluvial. Sands, lime and clays together with our vineyards conducted in gobelet and trellis system build an ideal ecosystem for the development of our vineyards.

Red: Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, Graciano, Mazuelo and Maturana Tinta.

White: Viura, Malvasía, Garnacha Blanca, Tempranillo Blanco, Maturana Blanca, Turruntés, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc y Verdejo.
